Trollinger Law LLC has announced that nominations are now open for its annual Hometown Heroes Award, an initiative designed to honor first responders in Charles County and throughout Southern Maryland for their dedicated service to the community. The firm, which specializes in personal injury and workers' compensation law, will accept nominations until the winners are announced on Oct. 5, 2026.
The award is open to all local first responders, including paramedics, police officers, firefighters, emergency response teams, public safety providers, emergency hospital facilities and workers, military service members, and other emergency workers. Each winner will receive a $500 cash prize and four complimentary tickets to a luxury suite at a D.C. United game on October 24, where they can celebrate alongside other honorees and Trollinger Law staff. The honorees will also be recognized on the field at halftime during the game.
This year's edition continues a tradition that has previously honored current and retired members of the Charles County Sheriff's Office, the Marine Corps, the Charles County Department of Emergency Medical Services, local police and fire departments, and volunteer rescue squads. The award serves as a token of gratitude for those who often work behind the scenes, without expectation of recognition.
Matt Trollinger, founder of Trollinger Law and a personal injury and workers' compensation lawyer in Waldorf, explained the motivation behind the initiative: "We started Hometown Heroes as a way to honor a group of people whose efforts to protect and serve others often happen behind the scenes, with no expectation of recognition. First responders help people and families during some of their darkest and most vulnerable hours. We're proud to express our appreciation for their courage and support."
Nominations are being accepted now, and questions about the process can be directed to Dawn Williamson via email. Trollinger Law LLC represents injured individuals in Southern Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Virginia in workers' compensation and personal injury matters, including car accidents, truck accidents, slip-and-fall accidents, wrongful death, and medical malpractice. The Hometown Heroes Award underscores the importance of recognizing the sacrifices made by first responders, who are often the first to arrive at scenes of crisis and provide critical assistance during emergencies. By offering this annual recognition, Trollinger Law aims to raise awareness of the vital role these individuals play in maintaining community safety and well-being. The award also provides an opportunity for the public to show appreciation for those who risk their lives daily to protect others.
With the nomination window now open, residents and colleagues are encouraged to submit nominations for deserving first responders, ensuring that their contributions are acknowledged and celebrated. The award not only provides financial and experiential rewards but also serves as a public testament to the courage and dedication of these everyday heroes.
