Clym Environmental Opens New Frostburg Facility with Ozone-Based Waste Treatment

Clym Environmental Services, LLC celebrated the official opening of its new processing facility in Frostburg, Maryland, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on August 27, 2026. The event, attended by over 100 guests including elected officials and community leaders, highlighted the facility's innovative approach to waste management and its potential economic impact on the area.

During the ceremony, attendees were given VIP tours and visited information stations that detailed the facility's ozone treatment technology. Energy Select, the company responsible for the solar installation, showcased the benefits of the solar system that will power Clym's operations. The event also featured remarks from key figures such as Charles Watts, President of Clym Environmental, Maryland Commerce Secretary Harry Coker, and Allegany County Commissioner Bill Atkinson.

Juli McCoy, President & CEO of the Allegany County Chamber of Commerce, emphasized the facility's importance: "Clym Environmental will create living-wage jobs, and its operations, using technology and environmental science, make its proximity to Frostburg State University a perfect fit for the Frostburg Business Park and Allegany County."

The company also received a certificate of congressional recognition presented on behalf of Congresswoman April McClain Delaney. Kendall Abruzzese, Western Maryland Outreach Coordinator, praised Clym's "pioneering work in environmentally friendly and innovative waste management biotechnology" and its contribution to workforce opportunities and long-term economic growth in Western Maryland.

Once fully operational, the Frostburg facility will use Clym's proprietary ozone treatment technology to process biohazardous material into safe, reusable materials. The technology generates ozone from ambient air and is powered by solar energy, significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions compared to traditional thermal treatment methods. This approach aligns with growing demands for sustainable practices in the healthcare and pharmaceutical industries.

The ribbon-cutting follows several milestones for the project, including Clym being named the Life Sciences Innovation of the Year at the Maryland Tech Council's 2026 ICON Awards. The new facility supports Clym's expansion across the eastern United States and reinforces its commitment to advancing sustainable waste management solutions.

Founded in 1998, Clym Environmental Services provides regulated waste management and compliance solutions to healthcare, life sciences, and industrial clients across the eastern and midwestern United States. The Frostburg facility marks a significant step in the company's growth and its dedication to safety, sustainability, and operational efficiency.
