Advanced Behavioral Health Expands Mental Health Services to Washington County with New Hagerstown Office

Advanced Behavioral Health, Inc. (ABH) has expanded its mental health services to Washington County with the opening of a new outpatient office in Hagerstown. The office, located at 265 Mill Street, Suite 800, began seeing patients on September 1, 2026, marking the organization's first presence in the county. This expansion brings ABH's total service area to six counties in Maryland, offering Washington County residents access to the same level of clinical care available at its other locations.

The decision to open in Hagerstown aligns with ABH's commitment to meeting clients where they are and addressing the growing need for behavioral health services in the region. The new office provides a range of services, including onsite and offsite individual and family therapy, school-based therapy, telehealth counseling, and psychiatric evaluation and medication management. These offerings are designed to support individuals, youth, and families across the community.

Vera Kurdian, CEO of ABH, emphasized the importance of this expansion in building collaborative partnerships within Washington County. She stated, 'Serving families and supporting communities one individual at a time is what we do best. This expansion allows us to build a collaborative partnership in Washington County, where families can expect high-quality and timely mental health and psychiatric services.' Kurdian also noted that the new office creates job opportunities for mental health professionals, reflecting ABH's dedication to its employees as well as its patients.

In addition to the immediate services, ABH plans to introduce its Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program (PRP) to the Hagerstown office once Maryland's PRP moratorium is lifted, which is expected in 2027. This program will further enhance the continuum of care available to Washington County residents, providing additional support for those with serious mental health conditions.

The expansion is part of ABH's broader mission to increase access to behavioral health services throughout Maryland. The organization already operates in Baltimore, Carroll, Frederick, Montgomery, Prince George's, and now Washington Counties, offering a comprehensive range of services that include individual and group therapy, psychiatric evaluation and medication management, telehealth, youth therapeutic mentoring, and community schools programming. ABH accepts major insurance, Medicaid, and maintains a discounted fee program to ensure that no individual is denied access to care due to inability to pay, with eligibility requirements applying.

ABH has been recognized as a Top Workplace in 2024, 2025, and 2026, underscoring its commitment to clinical excellence and cultural competency. The opening of the Hagerstown office represents a significant step in expanding mental health resources in a county that has historically faced limited access to such services. By offering a wide range of treatments and support, ABH aims to address the mental health needs of the community and improve overall well-being.

Patients and referring providers can contact the new office at 301.345.1022. For more information about ABH and its services, visit abhmaryland.com.
