The board-certified general surgeon brings over 30 years of experience to the role, reinforcing the organization's commitment to high-quality, integrated patient care. Dr. Christian will guide AmeriWell's multidisciplinary teams as the organization expands its comprehensive treatment plans, with a specialized focus on personal injury, auto accidents, and work-related injuries. His diverse background spans general surgery, trauma rehabilitation, and holistic wellness, making him uniquely positioned to lead the clinical practice.
A graduate of Howard University College of Medicine, Dr. Christian completed his general surgery residency at St. Barnabas Medical Center, where he was recognized as Surgical Intern of the Year. His clinical expertise includes general surgery, obesity treatment, and bariatric support. He gained national recognition when the Discovery Channel documented a groundbreaking 1,000-pound weight-loss case under his care, which he later chronicled in his book, Mannafast Miracle. Dr. Christian's unique blend of surgical precision, military discipline, and humanitarian compassion makes him the ideal leader for our medical team, said Dr. Ali R. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Christian is a retired Major in the U.S. Army Reserves who served as a Battalion Surgeon, contributing extensively to the treatment and rehabilitation of injured service members. His humanitarian efforts include medical missions to the Hopi Indian Reservation and disaster relief work in New Orleans post-Katrina and in Dominica following Hurricane Maria.
